Bird Flu Preparedness Webinar
Originally Webcast in 2007
Inoculate Your Buildings & Your Tenants Against Bird Flu
Most health and global security experts agree that a pandemic flu epidemic is inevitable-it's not a matter of "if" but "when." In the event of a pandemic outbreak, commercial office buildings may face extended closures and limited access, creating stresses for their tenants, property management teams, and investors.
Part 1 covered:
- Strategies for preparing tenants for Bird Flu-(identifying their business continuity plans and needs; preparing building's technology infrastructure, if needed; special training for tenants, if needed; reminders about building closures and access changes)
- Lease Review-what do current leases afford in terms of building closures, tenants' business continuity insurance requirements, technology requirements (to support extended office closures)
- Insurance Review-what are the insurance needs of the building and of the tenants?
- Tips for preparing building staff to manage the building remotely, if the situation warrants it. (Technology needs/requirements, determining closure/access plans, communicating to building staff and tenants about extended closures, training building staff to be prepared)
Part 2 covered:
- Operational strategies of multi-tenant buildings need to address as part of their Pandemic Flu preparedness planning
- Building systems requirements, such as HVAC, access control programs, and telecommunications
- Adapt operational requirements and strategies in the face of both a potential contamination in the building and for an extended building closure or limited access for building personnel
